IBC Eureka Bridges Cosmos and Ethereum Ecosystems

The Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol has expanded beyond Cosmos with the launch of IBC Eureka, connecting over $260 billion in combined market cap between Cosmos chains and Ethereum.

What is IBC Eureka?

IBC v2, branded as Eureka, enables fast and affordable one-click connections between Ethereum and Cosmos chains. Unlike traditional bridges relying on multisigs or optimistic verification, Eureka uses ZK light client proofs for cryptographic security guarantees.

Technical Implementation

ZK-enabled verification reduces costs significantly, making IBC connections to Ethereum economically viable while maintaining security. Token transfers work seamlessly without the wrapped token complexity that plagues other bridge solutions.

The integration required simplifying the IBC stack. Developers retracted ibc-go v9 and removed the fee middleware module to streamline upgrades from v8 to v10 (the first Eureka-compatible release).

Ecosystem Adoption

Networks using IBC Eureka include Babylon Genesis, Lombard, Lorenzo, PumpBTC, SatLayer, Tower DEX, ZkCloud, SEDA Protocol, Elys Network, and Injective.

Expanding Connectivity

IBC integration to Solana is in final development stages, while Base and other L2 integrations are in audit. The goal is adding dozens of networks in 2026 using a general solution that works across all EVM and L2 chains.

IBC v4 Improvements

The July 2025 IBC v4 upgrade enhanced cross-chain interoperability with more efficient transactions and improved security protocols. Combined with CometBFT performance optimizations targeting 10,000+ TPS, Cosmos infrastructure is scaling for institutional finance.
